Where in the World?

J and I have recently decided to decorate our living room in the British India style, or British Colonial. We are slowly, and I mean slowly working on it. (I will post pics later on) Last night as I was laying in bed, I decided that we needed to incorporate some world maps into the mix. As I have been researching this idea, I found some really great ways to use maps and globes to pull rooms together. I found a wonderful article from Apartment Therapy where great inspiration was uncovered. What do you think? Do you like the idea of map decor? Have you found any great sights/ideas for decorating with vintage maps?

  1. I love, love, love this idea. I can just see myself sitting in a chair by a wall like this, drinking a latte and reading a novel… How creative!

  2. If I could be there I wouldn’t be able to read. Planning the next vacation to another continent seems to be better!

  3. Great blog…I think it’s a great idea! I love the idea of decorating with maps and globes. Especially if your favorite places are highlighted. Blessings, Joanne

  4. I LOVE LOVE LOVE maps! Actually I’ve got two maps on my walls! :) Without false modesty I can say I know the geography very well but I’ll never tire to explore new parts of maps! VERY detailed map on my wall – is my dream! :)

  5. Kirby, Fun new blog!
I think maps are great for decoration. My mom has a giant world map that covers almost her whole entry way wall. It was so big, that it would have cost a fortune to have it framed with glass, so they laminated it & framed it that way. It turned out great & you can point at places on the map all day long!
