What to do with old wine bottles?

* Prepare ye selves for some Top glue Gun action*

We like us some wine. We’ve always known what to do with the contents of a wine bottle. Now we know how to use wine corks. It seems only fair that the bottles themselves get to be repurposed, no?

Check out my latest DIY project.

Before

After

This project is very easy and doesn’t require much brain activity (my kind of project!). I think I watched 4 episodes of Friends while working on these babies.

You will need

Glue gun and gardening twine ($2 at Ace)… that’s it:)

Plug in the glue gun, apply dots of glue on the bottle, and wrap that twine around.

This was so fast and easy that I decided to make… 3 of those bottles. And I constantly catch myself lurking around the house in search for something else to wrap. Soap dispenser? Picture frame? Candle holder? Somebody has to stop me before my house looks like a tiki bar:)

What do you think? Any other ideas on what can be done with wine bottles?

  1. I might just have to drink a whole bottle of wine so that I can make this immediately…but then the twine would probably not be too straight.

  2. Hahaha, you are hilarious, Casi! Who knows though, maybe the twine shouldn’t be straight! It will only make sense to decorate a wine bottle right after you finished it:)

  3. Hey, pin-up girl! Nice work!
I think you can add something on the wrapped bottles – rye or wheat, dried flower, little pebbles etc.
Glue gun! OMG, it is my dream! Anybody knows where I can buy it in Russia? :)

  4. Svet, that’s exactly what Greg said… But i was like, “YOu don’t know what you are talking about.” Now that 2 people say the same thing, I’ll have to think about what to add to the bottles:)

Do you want me to mail you a glue gun? It might take a while for it to get to Russia, but you will have it eventually:)

  5. I like the result of your work! agree with Sveta and Greg, something should be added)
Also love the pic of you in the 50s style)

  6. This is awsome, Len4ik!!! I love the natural look of the twine and think if you put a bright flower, like gerbera, in the bottle, it would finish the picture. You look sooo cute on the picture (remind me of Kandee).

  7. Thank you, Len, but I don’t want to bother you with that expences! :) There is electric standards problem anyway… I think it will be better if I find glue gun here in Russia :)
Bright gerbera is an excellent idea! I like it too!

    • I guess it’s true. More hastle with this – plug doesn’t match, and then you will run out of glue sticks and won’t be able to use the gun anymore. I’m sure you can find it somewhere in a craft store or something.
