Our house then and now: {outside}

The outside of our little cottage underwent just as big of a transformation as the inside. If not bigger. Take a peek and judge for yourself.

Our contractors changed the siding of the house completely and moved the front door. Front window was significantly enlarged. Roof may be new as well, I’m not sure. And of course, they removed those “eyebrows” from above the windows. Eek!

Before…

… and after

The back of the house is unrecognizable. As I mentioned in the previous post, the owners kept adding on to the house. In order to make the floors even (as they should be) and the layout sensible, our architect suggested slicing off the added on parts and just expanding the foundation by 6 feet.

Before…

… and after (I made sure to show a corner of our neighbors’ brown cottage, like in the before picture, or you probably wouldn’t have believed me!)

* Excuse the trash bins, I would have moved them, but that’s where they live… right by the grill!

* One of those bins is our compost pile. Do you compost? No??? You should!

The front of the house looks completely different as well. Obviously the windows, the sidewalk, and landscape… Also, please note that concrete slob to the right of the house… That thing goes 6 feet deep and used to hold a 30 ft TV tower. (Excuse me, but WHY??? Were they trying to get Papua New Guinea’s local news or something?). It was much easier to build a deck, than remove 6 ft of concrete.

… and after

Wow, I just can’t stop admiring the work people who turned cats’ burial grounds into a lovely lake cottage.

  1. There is a narrow one way street/greenway running between our house and the lake, but pretty much yes, we are right on the lake:))) It is gorgeous and I never want to move away:)
