Living room rearrangement is, for the most part, donzo. There are still a few things that I want to tweak, but they will have to wait.
The room doesn’t look much different, except that it feels so. We got rid of the walking space behind the couch and the love seat (by moving them to the walls), and what do you know? Turns out we have a pretty large living room on our hands. Nothing in the way of the light coming into it, and nothing for Lena to bump into any more.
I’ll tell ya, this room is tricky. We have a fire-place, a wall where the TV just has to go because all of the ceiling speakers are supposed to be plugged in there, and the window with a gorgeous view. How is a girl to decide on a focal point, huh? The previous set-up was centered around the TV and the fireplace. Priorities, you see!
The new set-up finally opens up the view without taking any attention away from his majesty, TV, and his honor, fire-place. Because that would be wrong.
I kid… we are getting rid of our cable at the end of the summer. You should too.
Well, enough with the talking… Take a looksie and tell me what you think.
I moved the love-seat under the TV that we mounted on the wall and placed our new dining set right by the window.
Then I moved the couch all the way down and got rid of the bar table in the corner, which turned out to be a perfect spot for a reading chair.
I decided to put the love-seat under the TV because we really don’t watch much of it. And I found a great spot for the TV console, only now we have a problem with hiding the wires. Any suggestions that don’t require drilling a hole through the wall?
The chair in the corner is now my favorite reading spot…. Love it! The bar table found a new place also…
This vantage point stayed the same, minus the chair.
There is so much room and light now, me likey…
What thinks you?
Natty Tip of the Day
Inspired by my friend Lindsey and our trip to the grocery store: Do not grocery shop when HUNGRY. You will end up buying more things than you need and most likely things that aren’t that healthy. And ALWAYS have a list with you. It is a money-saving tip, no pun intended.

I think it looks great and I love the reading area and the colour coded books
Thank you, Vix. The reading area is quite comfy, I would sleep there if it was a little bigger:)

Love your living room before and after!

Ah, Poang! One of the best inventions to sit!
You can make long and narrow wooden case for wires and paint it like your shelves. (Thickness of the case = thickness of shelves). Put it symmetrically under the TV and I think it’ll fit into this interior.
Thanks, Svet. And thanks for the suggestion, I’ll talk it over to Greg… I’m not that handy:)
Ridiculously jealous of all that natural light! And that fireplace?! Love! I like color coding books too!
I love the light as well. I feel claustrophobic when there are no windows. I’d like to add some curtains though, in the future.
