The weekend went by so fast, and it was so full of fun in the sun, that I completely lost track of time. It’s Tuesday and I’m just now realizing it’s a weekday and time for another post. Life of a teacher in the summer is blissful, but I know you feel very, very sorry for me, now that I only have about 2 weeks left before going back to work. Poor, poor me!
What was that? Did you just roll your eyes at me, young… um… person?
Speaking of rolling your eyes, I finally found an antique shop not far from our house.
(I know the previous sentence bears no logic, but smooth transitions are lost on me in the summer.)
The antique shop, so cozily named Home Sweet Home, sells much junk, excuse my French, but if you are lucky, you can stumble uptown some finds.
I got a few interesting things that look nice in our so-far-from-antiquie lake cottage.
Check’em out!
First off, these beautiful 2-bucks-a-piece jars with lion heads. I bought 3 and now store q-tips and cotton balls in them.
This vase and the book-end were only $2.5 each. I love the details.
And this $4 candle holder is now decorating our new dining set. Bright and happy!
When I came home with these goodies, hubby said: “Finally, our lives will be complete now”. Then rolled his eyes, ran to the dock and jumped in the lake to cool off.
So what if all of these items are absolutely unnecessary? They are pretty and when I lay my eyes on them, I smile!
Do you buy unnecessary things? What kind?
Make me feel better, please!

I love all these things. Unfortunately, my Big Move to Australia made me leave behind everything I have collected with so much love. So now I’m starting a new ‘collection’. I think these little things make your home cosy and nice. They make home look like home, not like hotel room or office. I don’t see anything bad in this cute habit.
At the same time many people think that if you don’t buy all these ‘unnecessary things’, you can save some money. But what for? To spend it on food? It’s not a little fortune. I ‘d better spend money on something that improves my home and makes me feel a little happy than spend on food. Little things make us happy. It’s just another details in our lives. Life would be boring without details, right?
You are so right! Little things can make so much difference. A home without cute little nothings can feel cold and uninviting!
I hope you process of making a home in Australia is fun and enjoyable!

Yes, it is. Thank you.
Painting a little bit also, crafting, making ‘little funny nothings’ with shells.
I love the candle holders you bought. They look so ancient, like vase as well
