I spent all day decorating Saturday. It was wonderful.
Typically growing up, I was always the one to disappear when there was Christmas decorating to be done and miraculously reappear once it was finished.
Not the past two years though. It must be something about having my own house that makes me really excited to decorate.
Since J and I are headed down South for Christmas, we decided to start really early so we could enjoy our festive house for the 3 weeks before we left.
So Saturday I geared up with a half a pot of coffee and went to work. I was like a Tasmanian Devil. Whirling about the house, throwing ornaments here and there….I hit both the exterior and interior parts of the house and I thought I’d share some pics with you.. (Unfortunately it’s currently raining outside and I don’t want to get my camera wet, so not exterior photos today)
I’ve realized that my holiday decorating style leans less (way less) sophisticated and more (extremely more) home-y. What do you think??
Note: We ran out of lights for our tree and haven’t gotten more. That is why the top half is significantly more lit than the bottom…. not because I don’t J doesn’t know how to string lights…
I’ll start with the big picture…
And all the little details..
Cranberries are my fave decoration for Christmas… So classy and cheap!
We were given this beautiful screen from India from my in-laws… it makes for a perfect place for stockings…
Let’s not forget Mr. Penguin…
A stack of holiday magazines strategically placed where I drink my morning coffee…
And my favorite tree topper EVER…
So there’s a little glimpse into our holiday spirit this year… I literally woke up super early this morning so that I could sit by the tree and drink my coffee.
I love Christmas..

Great idea about the cranberries! One question – is it fresh or kind of preserved? I’ve got frozen cranberries in my fridge but I’m afraid it’ll be like shop-soiled after unfreezing
These were fresh, but then I froze them for a few weeks before using them. I did find that while melting, they put off water. I wish I would have let them defrost before using them. I think either could work. –K
