I just can’t seem to shake it.
It’s still January…which means it’s still Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
I know you know this. We talked about it a week or two ago.
But I just can’t seem to shake my feeling of needing to talk about it…often.
I was reminded at church tonight, how important it is to raise awareness of this horrific crime against humanity.
Did you know every 26 seconds a child is being sold into the sex trade*?
Or that it’s estimated 2 million children are being trafficked a year*?
Staggering, huh?
That means that in the time that it took me to write up this post, over 40 children have been abducted and sold into a life of living hell.
It’s stats like these that make me feel hopeless. They make me feel like my voice doesn’t and won’t matter. And you know what?? It’s thoughts like these that ensure that it doesn’t.
But I’m not helpless. My voice counts and so does yours.
If these stats tug at your heart, start talking about it. Start bringing it up in conversation and letting people know what is going on every 26 seconds. By telling people about this, you may inspire them to do something. Then that’s two people doing something about it. And then maybe they’ll start talking about it… then who knows…maybe we’ll have an entire revolution against human trafficking…started by talking… with one voice.
Start today. If you want to move further and do something else… here, here and here can help you plug in and take action.
So if we can change the world one voice at a time, why not?

Organization I used to work for (Children’s HopeChest) fights against this…
Also, I’m reading The Girl who played with Fire and this is the central topic of this book… Scary!!!
I didn’t know that was something that HopeChest did! That’s so great… I don’t know if I’d be able to handle your book… ps.. i printed off that chart you posted on your blog the other day, and took it to the grocery store
It was super helpful!
