Crafting Cards

I have this friend. Her name is Mallery. She is fun, outgoing, beautiful and kind. She is also phenomenally gifted when it comes to crafting. Her DIY passion? Cards.

I employed her for the baby shower that we’re throwing for Lena next month… With a little Pinsperation, she came up with these…

Since I have known Mallery, she has made me quite a few homemade cards. I adore them so much that I have kept them in a stack, just waiting to display them. They are seriously WAY too cute to keep in a drawer/throw away, so as I was in my idea room (a.k.a. shower) the other day, a light bulb went off.

Like totally.

I would hang them with twine in the basement…

If you have been following me long here at Natty Nook, you know that I have a serious dilemma with our basement.

It’s our spare bedroom/office/mudroom/library/laundry folding/catch all room. I have big, big plans for this room but I have to wait and see where we’ll be in 6 months… if it’s here, Lowe’s look out… I’m coming for everything home improvement! Bedding, lighting, painting… the works.

Our good friends Nate and Bethany are coming into town this weekend so I figured this would be the perfect time to implement my new idea on this wall… I love having company. It motivates me to do so many things…

I grabbed some twine and some laundry clips and went to work… I used tacks to hold the twine in place…

And began arranging. I added…

My fave Christmas card I got from Mal two years ago…you may recognize it from this post

A picture I took when J and I were visiting Scotland… we wrote our names in the West Sands… then pretended to race across it like we were Eric Liddell.

A homemade card my mother-in-law made me when I first moved to Indiana… she’s such a sweet Martha Stewart.

Birthday card from Mal gal…

I also took a paint swatch and tore off the writing, then glued it to a note card…

I opted for one of my favorite quotes… then shortened it because I don’t like my handwriting…

I added a monogram hanky that was given to us as a wedding present…

Another homemade card from Mallery..

Used some of the remaining paint swatches..

An old Polaroid of my grandfather… I adore this photo.

Last but certainly not least, our Valentine’s day card from… well I’ll let you guess. Her name starts with an M.

This project was so fun and it took me less than an hour to do everything. I plan on adding some photos when I get around to it. There is still a lot more to be done in the basement, but this makes me smile when I round the stairs.

Thank you Mallery for your love, generosity and creative mind! They mean so much more than you know.

Maybe if y’all are lucky, I can talk Mal into guest posting one of these days…

Happy halfway to Friday, friends!
