I’ve returned from the great Lone Star state…. 10 pounds heavier.
I had a great trip. I hate that my mom had to have surgery but I loved getting to see her, my dad, my extended family and some friends from college. It was a much needed break. Here’s a sneak peak at how I spent the last week…
We did a lot of lounging… and eating.
As you well know, I have a massive love affair with food. On the flight down I was making a mental list of all of the things that I wanted to eat while I was home.
Obviously, my list was too long for the time I was there (and my wallet) but I hit the highlights of my favorite things of East Texas.
Two regrets: I didn’t eat BBQ or crawfish. It’s a shame.
Indulge me while I tell you all about it.
There were petit fours from The Butcher Shop Bakery.
Corn nuggets and Sweet Tea from Chicken Express.
Lots of homemade salad by yours truly….
My absolute favorite burger in the world from Butcher Shop.
And to my surprise… Natchitoches (pronounced nakadish) Meat Pies from one lovely family friend, Dolores.
I have a confession.
My name is Kirby and I have an unhealthy obsession with Natchitoches Meat Pies. And peppermint patty flavored coffee.
I’ve decided to dedicate some significant time to finding out what is in Dolores’ secret family recipe. More on that later.
It’s Friday and I’m wearing jeans. Life is good.
Thanks for being patient with me while I was away!
T.G.I.F!
