I, Kirby, with the power invested in me by the state of Indiana…hereby make it illegal for all work/classes to be held on such a beautiful Spring day as this. They are forever cancelled on sunny, 70-80 degree days that are accompanied by a slight breeze.
For our fellow Hoosiers, you’re welcome. Those of you who do not live in Indiana, write your local congressman. Tell them Kirby sent you…
If only it were that easy.
I woke up this morning inspired by the fact that we’re well through April and almost into May… summer is coming and it’s been a perfect spring. The bleakness of winter has passed and hope has arrived.
Caught up in longing for days on the lake, the hum of boats floating through my open windows with the slightly warm breeze and the smell of BBQ, I hit up my “dress section” of my closet to pick out a fun one for work…
Dresses. Mmmm… dresses. Dresses mean warm days and cool nights. Cruiser bikes and outdoor movies. Dancing in the park and eating under beautiful trees stung with white lights. Romance.
Growing up I was a total tomboy… which there’s nothing wrong with at all… nowadays, I switch back and forth but I’m definitely a running shorts and v-neck type of girl but I have recently (as in the past 18 months) developed a serious weakness… I LOVE dresses. I love the femininity. grace. class that they can bring. I love the way I feel when I wear a dress. Like I’m channeling Grace Kelly.
In honor of this lovely day/season on the horizon, here are some dresses that would make for great Spring/Summer adventures…
1) Old Navy….I love that their so bright and yet feel very age appropriate… more sophisticated as some might say.

2) Of course ModCloth…this is for the feaux-hippie in me.

I’m dreaming about this dress. I have a wedding next month that I think this would be PERFECT for… so pretty!

I adore the pleats on this one…

3) And I know Charlotte Russe would be hurt if I left her out of this…

This screams summer BBQ…

Are you kidding me?? LOVE the back of this one.

Easter has passed sadly, or else this would have been a gem of a find…

This dress is me. Her name is Kirby. She’s 5’9″ and loves summer.

Yes. Check please.

I love that the variety of dresses out there these days. The longer maxi dresses are such a nice change-up. I’m currently finding myself drawn toward the longer skirts… which is a little scary since I have some seriously large calves… could be a conflict of interest.
