This girl does. And her handy-man husband.
If you’ve been around here for awhile, you know that I’ve been complaining about my basement and lack of inspiration I’ve had since moving in 18 months ago.
Knowing full well that I would have two and a half weeks off before my program starts, I had been going back and forth between painting and not painting down there. I came home Monday and all of our stuff was moved into the middle of the room (courtesy J) and the decision was made… my wonderful husband made it easy on me so I wouldn’t have to debate any longer. So here is what I came home to…
We spent the next 48 hours taping, painting and cleaning… I think overall we spent about $100 on supplies and this is what we ended up with… here are some before and after’s….
Before…
After…
Other side… Before…
I’m not sure if you can tell by the picture, but the paint is a blueish-grey. I wish it were a little bit more grey, but I love it anyway. Definitely better than before, I think.
This re-do has been a long time coming, so much that I’ve been working on projects here and there over the last year… like the mirror above… and this chalk board and book case…
I even spray painted the clothes pins to match the yellow…
Overall, I’m INCREDIBLY happy with the way it turned out and LOVE going down there… I’m just waiting to get new bedding on the spare bed and then everything will be complete.
What do you think? Was it a successful change??

Looove those two colors together. And I actually love that it’s a little more blue. Don’t get me wrong–loving gray and yellow, of course, these days, but basements can be cooler spaces already, so the blue tint to the grey warms it up a bit. Nice and bright, but ohso fresh; well done!
Love it!!! If you ever move, I’m stealing your house
Thanks girl! I’m glad you like it!! You can for sure steal my house… we’ll be outta here in 5 years!
Thanks Sarah! Yeah, I think I’m warming up to the more blue color… my only fear is that it looks like a baby nursery haha
